Chuhak & Tecson's 10th Anniversary Women Helping Women Event

Magdalene House Chicago is honored to have been selected as the Charity Partner for Chuhak & Tecson’s 10th Anniversary Women Helping Women Mix-and-Mingle event.

Event Background:

In 2009, Chuhak & Tecson women attorneys recognized that it was a challenge for women professionals to find the time to give back to their communities through activities that bring personal satisfaction, fulfill a sense of social responsibility and create joy. From this realization, the attorneys banded together and developed a unique initiative, coined Women Helping Women (WHW).

This year marks WHW’s 10th Anniversary! This special year is commemorated with the 10 Ways to Give Back program where women attorneys, paralegals and staff are participating in such projects as drafting wills for first responders, harvesting produce as an educational experience for youth and adults who face the challenge of poverty, and collecting funds for children who need new warm coats, hats and accessories for this winter.

The 10th Anniversary WHW mix-and-mingle has chosen Magdalene House Chicago as its event partner! Don’t miss this event that supports professional women with relationship-building opportunities while simultaneously delivering goods to underrepresented women in the community.

For those inspired to contribute a gift, MHC’s Housewarming Wishlist includes ideas for meaningful and useful gifts to help build a home for women survivors ready to heal.

Amy Black Charity Concert @ City Winery

Tickets Available Now at:

Nashville-based artist Amy Black returns to Chicago to play a special blues and classic R&B brunch show for a powerful cause: Supporting Chicago-area survivors of human trafficking. A portion of the afternoon’s ticket and merchandise sales will be donated to the non-profit Magdalene House Chicago to further their work with survivors of sex-trafficking.

As a singer and songwriter, Amy Black is known for her authenticity and versatility. Her live performance, like her songwriting, spans from tender and dynamic and powerful.

Amy's love of many classic forms of American music led her from Boston, where she started her career... to Nashville... to Muscle Shoals... and most recently, to Memphis to record with members of the Hi Rhythm Section (Al Green's backing band).

While always drawn to singers of soul, blues and gospel, it wasn't until Amy began exploring her own southern soul roots for her third album, The Muscle Shoals Sessions, that she knew her next project had to be made in the place where blues and soul converge (and where she herself was conceived); where Al Green, Otis Redding and so many others turned grit and groove into some of the world's most beloved tunes. Black then hunted down several top musical architects (members of the Hi Rhythm Section (Al Green's backing band) to help her lay down the sound she wished to make -- the sound of Memphis.

Amy's song "Without You" can be heard in the Clint Eastwood film, The Mule.
